There was a lot about Bog Fodder that I thought was impressive! This sci-fi world springs fully formed off the page, with multiple distinctive dialects filled with neologisms, an imaginatively constructed setting (the sliph traffic, the Marsh Boys), and a class system the reader can get a quick sense of. Readers will understand the way that the cultured Marqisian finds himself voyaging through a side of society that his kind might not often frequent, and the social stratification that has left the “civilized population” soaring through the air while the rest wade through bogs. I also liked the way that the protagonist is given a task to solve straight away in the first chapter, and I thought the writing was already quite clean, free from typos and grammatical errors.
